Disaster Preparedness Drill | SLCB & BFP

SLCB Strengthens Disaster Preparedness Through Fire and Earthquake Drill

The Fire and Earthquake Drill conducted by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)–Bulanao in collaboration with Saint Louis College of Bulanao (SLCB) served as an important initiative in strengthening disaster preparedness and promoting a culture of safety within the institution. Through the active participation of students, faculty, and staff, the activity provided a practical learning experience that enhanced participants' knowledge and understanding of proper emergency response procedures during fire and earthquake incidents.

The drill highlighted the importance of preparedness, awareness, and teamwork in minimizing risks and protecting lives during emergencies. Participants were able to practice evacuation procedures, apply the "Duck, Cover, and Hold" technique, and gain hands-on experience in the proper use of fire extinguishers. These activities not only reinforced theoretical knowledge but also helped build confidence and readiness in responding to real-life disaster situations.

Furthermore, the discussions and demonstrations conducted by BFP personnel emphasized that disaster preparedness is not a one-time activity but a continuous process that requires regular training, discipline, and cooperation among all members of the community. The activity encouraged participants to develop a proactive mindset toward safety and to recognize their individual roles and responsibilities in emergency situations.

Overall, the successful conduct of the Fire and Earthquake Drill demonstrated SLCB's commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of its academic community. It strengthened the institution's disaster risk reduction and management efforts while fostering a more resilient, informed, and prepared campus capable of responding effectively to potential emergencies and disasters.
